His Majesty arrives in Botswana

Gaborone: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, arrived in the Republic of Botswana on Wednesday on a two-day state visit.

Upon His Majesty's arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in the capital Gaborone, President Duma Gideon Boko of the Republic of Botswana, led the welcoming party for His Majesty at the foot of the ramp. The President of Botswana welcomed His Majesty the Sultan and the accompanying official delegation, expressing his profound delight at this gracious visit, as the artillery fired a twenty-one-gun salute in honour of His Majesty.

His Majesty the Sultan and the President of Botswana then ascended the dais of honour, where the Royal Anthem of Oman and the Botswana National Anthem were played, followed by His Majesty's inspection of the Guard of Honour.

Thereafter, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with the Botswana’s officials assembled to greet him, while the President of Botswana shook hands with the members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty.

A welcoming tableau of traditional Botswanan arts was then presented in celebration and warm welcome of His Majesty the Sultan.

The motorcade of His Majesty the Sultan, accompanied by the President of Botswana, then set off for the Presidency Headquarters.
